Sunt momente în care realizezi că munca ta înseamnă mult mai mult decât ceea ce faci între pereții unui cabinet. Pentru mine, unul dintre aceste momente a fost atunci când echipa mea a spus „da” unei provocări care nu are nicio legătură cu stomatologia: să alergăm împreună prin noroi, la Get Muddy: Race for Hope.There are moments when you realise that your work means far more than what you do within the walls of a clinic. For me, one of those moments was when my team said “yes” to a challenge that has nothing to do with dentistry: running together through mud, at Get Muddy: Race for Hope.
Nu ne-a împins nimeni de la spate. Am ales, toate, să ne aruncăm într-o cursă cu obstacole pentru pacienții oncologici din Sibiu. Și, cu cât ne apropiem de linia de start, cu atât înțeleg mai bine că această decizie spune, de fapt, totul despre cine suntem ca echipă.No one pushed us into it. We all chose to throw ourselves into an obstacle race for the oncology patients of Sibiu. And the closer we get to the start line, the more I understand that this decision says, in fact, everything about who we are as a team.
O echipă nu se angajează. Se construiește.A team isn’t hired. It’s built.
Când am pus bazele Zahn Art, știam că vreau mai mult decât un grup de medici buni care lucrează sub același acoperiș. Un CV impecabil îți spune ce poate face un om. Am construit această echipă încet, cu răbdare, la fel cum tratez un canal radicular la microscop: cu atenție la fiecare detaliu. Am căutat oameni cu mâini pricepute, dar mai ales cu inimă. Iar în timp, dintr-o colecție de individualități, s-a născut ceva ce nu poți fabrica: încredere. Astăzi, când mă uit la colegii mei, văd oameni care s-au ales reciproc și care aleg, în fiecare zi, să facă lucrurile bine.When I founded Zahn Art, I knew I wanted more than a group of good doctors working under the same roof. A flawless CV tells you what a person can do. I built this team slowly, patiently, the same way I treat a root canal under the microscope: with attention to every detail. I looked for people with skilled hands, but above all with heart. And over time, out of a collection of individuals, something you cannot manufacture was born: trust. Today, when I look at my colleagues, I see people who chose one another and who choose, every single day, to do things well.
Valorile care ne țin împreunăThe values that hold us together
Dacă m-ai întreba care este „secretul” echipei, ți-aș răspunde că nu e niciun secret. Sunt trei lucruri simple, pe care le repetăm nu prin vorbe, ci prin fapte.If you asked me what the team’s “secret” is, I would tell you there is no secret. There are three simple things, which we repeat not in words, but in deeds.
Încrederea. Într-un cabinet, un tratament reușit este aproape întotdeauna munca mai multor oameni. Nimeni nu redă singur un zâmbet. Când ai încredere în colegul de lângă tine, pacientul o simte imediat — se relaxează, are curaj, revine.Trust. In a clinic, a successful treatment is almost always the work of several people. No one gives back a smile alone. When you trust the colleague beside you, the patient feels it immediately — they relax, they take courage, they come back.
Empatia. Cred cu tărie că un tratament fără durere se construiește din profesionalism, dar și din empatie. Un pacient nu este un dinte. Este un om cu o poveste, cu temeri, uneori cu o zi grea în spate. Echipa mea știe asta.Empathy. I firmly believe that a painless treatment is built from professionalism, but also from empathy. A patient is not a tooth. They are a person with a story, with fears, sometimes with a hard day behind them. My team knows this.
Învățarea continuă. Nu ne-am oprit niciodată din studiat. Cursuri, congrese, tehnologie nouă, tehnici mai blânde. Nu pentru diplome, ci pentru că pacienții noștri merită cea mai bună versiune a noastră.Continuous learning. We have never stopped studying. Courses, congresses, new technology, gentler techniques. Not for diplomas, but because our patients deserve the best version of us.
Țeluri dincolo de meseria de medicGoals beyond being a doctor
Am învățat, în toți acești ani, că a fi medic bun nu este suficient. Meseria ne cere precizie, dar viața ne cere sens. De aceea, pentru mine, o echipă adevărată nu se măsoară doar în tratamente reușite, ci și în felul în care alege să fie prezentă pentru comunitatea din jur. Ce fel de exemplu lăsăm? Ce facem cu privilegiul de a ajuta oamenii? Participarea la Get Muddy este unul dintre răspunsurile noastre la aceste întrebări. Este felul nostru de a spune că grija pe care o purtăm pacienților din cabinet nu se oprește la ușa clinicii. Se extinde către oameni pe care poate nu îi vom întâlni niciodată, dar care duc, chiar acum, o luptă mult mai grea decât orice obstacol de pe traseu.Over all these years, I have learned that being a good doctor is not enough. The profession demands precision, but life demands meaning. That is why, for me, a true team is measured not only in successful treatments, but also in the way it chooses to be present for the community around it. What kind of example do we leave behind? What do we do with the privilege of helping people? Taking part in Get Muddy is one of our answers to these questions. It is our way of saying that the care we give our patients in the clinic does not stop at the door. It reaches out to people we may never meet, but who are fighting, right now, a battle far harder than any obstacle on the course.
De ce tocmai noroiulWhy mud, of all things
Cineva m-a întrebat de ce o echipă de medici ar vrea să se murdărească din cap până în picioare într-o cursă cu obstacole. Am zâmbit, pentru că întrebarea are un răspuns frumos. Noroiul de pe traseu se spală. Obstacolele se trec și se uită. Dar drumul prin care trece un pacient diagnosticat cu cancer este mult mai lung, iar obstacolele lui nu dispar la linia de finiș. Alergând, ne asumăm o mică parte din efortul lor — simbolic, dar real. Iar fiecare pas al nostru se transformă, prin Asociația Sus Inima, în sprijin concret pentru cei care au cea mai mare nevoie de el. Mai este un motiv, unul mai personal. Am văzut, la antrenamente, cum o echipă care lucrează bine în cabinet devine și mai puternică atunci când înfruntă împreună ceva greu. Râdem, cădem, ne ridicăm unii pe alții. Exact ca în viață.Someone asked me why a team of doctors would want to get covered in mud from head to toe in an obstacle race. I smiled, because the question has a beautiful answer. The mud on the course washes off. Obstacles are crossed and forgotten. But the road a patient diagnosed with cancer walks is far longer, and their obstacles do not disappear at the finish line. By running, we take on a small part of their effort — symbolic, but real. And every step of ours turns, through the Sus Inima Association, into concrete support for those who need it most. There is another reason, a more personal one. At training, I saw how a team that works well in the clinic becomes even stronger when it faces something hard together. We laugh, we fall, we lift each other up. Just like in life.
